Pathetic Request

It's somewhat pathetic of me to ask...

Please read the following
(and bare with the white water raft ride down my stream of consciousness)
I am not having any luck standing on my own getting this film finished.
AND After being in the OVERCROWDED Lancaster Shelter last week
where I saw 7 and 8 LARGE dogs in ONE kennel
(way more than the four in a kennel we depicted as overcrowded in the FREE to a Good Home movie)
this FILM needs to get finished...
it needs to get out there...
to show the public what animal rescuers do...
who animal rescuers are...
and WHAT is REALLY going on in shelters and who is really at fault
(hint: I DO NOT blame the shelters,
I put the blame on Joe -idiot-public who just wants to breed their family pet
or Dump their pet at the shelter the day they are moving...)

This film was supposed to show what one girl with a video camera could do...
and the shots look good...
(one person said I "raised the bar of indie-indie filmmaking"...because I can FRAME A SHOT)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0CXnDrXqEI

but post production has gotten the better of me...
from crashed hard drives to
financially driven editors who wont finish the film without their salary being more than doubled... why? because I want you to use the shot and not just take the first shot you come across... I have had to ask myself... would you call a man a bitch who wanted the "right" shot and not just the "first" shot that is "close enough" when I (and cast and crew) so painstakenly logged all the footage timecode into an excel file so we could find it... and I KNOW we have the right shot...yes it might take more time... but in the end the product looks better and the difference better and good enough is the difference between getting into film festivals and NOT. The difference between solid structure and close enough...

So I was wondering if you would please contact the editors of Readers Digest (or animal fair or any other magazine you like and want to contact) and ask them to do an article on FGH or the making of the movie...
http://www.rd.com/talktous.do?&lid=17

www.animalfair.com/

maybe as a story pitch....one persons struggle to finish what was started but gets waylayed by the sheer overwhelming numbers of animals in need...

(this is the white water raft ride...)
when you have to stop to make a living to pay rent... and i hate to feel like I am using the fire as an excuse... but recovering from such a financial loss... where you had several pairs of shoes and you are down to one or two because to replace those several pair would cost more than you can spare in a month... its dollars and cents...

I told a friend a while back who had another friend who had a fire... i told her to learn from my experience... to ask her friend a YEAR or two after what she is still missing... because the loss is so final and total... and so expensive to replace things... just getting back and up and running again .... you just take the base minimum...and keep moving forward

(this is where it gets a bit pathetic...)
i recall this because I have to go back to wyoming in december... to deal with my storage locker there... and normally to and from wyoming I sleep in the back of my truck with my dogs... (three large dogs) but then i have to recall that I no longer have the down sleeping bags and I never found the company I had gotten them from originally (I was going to write a letter and ask for them to replace them as a donation as I did with some other companies) but could not find the company... nor could I find hi-tec of course was google around in 2001... its almost five years later... and the comforter is still the one I got donated...

(not to mention stupid and a bit whiny...)

in the marketplace finding work hasnt been easy because if you are a filmmaker with an unfinished film.. you have nothing... they wont hire you becuase you are unproven... if you are a filmmaker with an unfinsihed film in admin in film biz... they also wont hire you because they are afraid you will make contacts or find funding and leave... or you can hide the fact... or bury it in your resume... but then they always ask... what have you done since graduating... um... nothing... whats that gap of two year... um (i was shooting a film) um nothing... why do you have three years of part time and temp work??? whats with that???

(the frustrations...)

SO I have contacted some places...but an individual asking for money is just an individul asking for money...
its like instead of tricker treating for unicef... you are trick or treating for your personal filmmakers fund...
individuals rarely can even get grants... because individuals alone are deemed invalid...
and it costs $2000 or more for a non profit... so I dont have that... and I saw the new HSUS online auction and thought great
until I see it costs $700 to obtain the service and I only have 200 toward a 900 dollar rent for November

(this is a little begging and pleading...)

so maybe you can find your favorite magazine and write a short note on behave of FGH

Or even your favorite dog food company or favorite pet supply place Like Jefferspet.com
or drsfostersmith.com... or (I tried petco even though their film department let me shoot on their premise
it was a different department for funding)

Or contact Rally to the Rescue

http://www.rallytorescue.org/contact_us.aspx

(this is where things get a bit frustrating if they weren't frustrating enough already...)
oh and we have been turned down from animal people HSUS the ACE (animal content in entertainment)'s new program to help get media out there ... because we have no STARS in our film... and i would say there are no stars in animal rescue... but then Jenna and Katie would say... um... tap tap tap on the shoulder of Judy Crozier... um... Linda Blair... oh yeah... well Linda.. your killin my quote... damn it...

(and all the rescuers who are rescue specific...)
and someone at HSUS even made mention that animal rescuers who pull animals from shelters or help and donate toward animals getting surgery and I have gotten some great donations towards some great animals that lived because of donations... (although I STILL have $600 at one vet for Penny whose donations were underfunded for her front legs both needing surgery, and about $400 at another for three other dogs one with Parvo and one with kennel cough, and a couple hundred at another for a parvo pup that ALSO then got really severe case of kennel cough, and $200 at a boarding place for one rescue)

(think outside the box... if more people know there would be more people rescuing and fostering... i am not saying this movie will change the world it just might help improve it a little for the few non rescuers who have seen it... they say they have been changed by it... think to adopt rather than buy and to fix rather than breed the family pet NOT wanting to be a part of the problem...)

some cast and crew said I should stop rescuing and I probably should... that would free up time and money... but... as a rescuer it is very hard to do... it is those sad eyes behind a chain link that made me start making this film... it is seeing those eyes that forces me to keep moving forward even if it is in terms of inches...

But this year I look at a promise I made in last years newsletter that I simply cannot keep... that the film would be done this year... and I made a liar out of myself...

(this is where i beg and plead again for help..)

I need help... I cannot do this alone... so if you can write a letter... to a funder... to a magazine... or if you have another idea that I have not already tried... and something you CAN IMPLEMENT yourself... because frankly TELLING me what I should do... I really do not need now... I have had many MANY producers come and go on this film... and most of them made MORE work...not less for me...which is really a pet peeve of mine...

(little more begging and pleading cant hurt...)

SO PLEASE I need help... implementing ideas... if you have a contact for me... great... let's talk but if you have an idea that is great but they you CANNOT help implement then wait until you have time... as I HAVE NO STAFF to do letter writing campaigns... or whatever great idea you have but you yourself have no time for... think of it this way... if you have no time to do it alone... nor can i...

(yep, YOU read it RIGHT, there was a bit of... dont bother me if you are ONLY going to give me great ideas that i most likely already tried because you want to help but only have time to make suggestions and still want to feel good about yourself...but you dont have time for any of the dirty work... I need help with the DIRTY WORK, it is like a rescuer who wants to rescue an animal but does not want an animal from the shelter who could possibly be sixk with kennel cough or be matted and dirty and needs a bath...or an adoptor who was a pure bred puppy from the shelter and they want to keep it as a yard dog when it's only 20 lbs! we know who you are!)

to those who suggest I finish editing it myself... you stare at your dead animals 24-7
while you edit a movie and see if you would make that same suggestion to yourself

sit on that for one minute....

The guilt alone would crush you... and to watch an animal the VCA animal hosp killed
because they withheld medication... and you didnt have the extra $150 to start a lawsuit
against their negligence (they withHELD medication on two occassions that was verified
by TWO separate vets)

(that was a white water raft ride into my guilt trip on myself...)

I just need help getting this film done... there are so many hours in a day... and I am just one person...
because FGH CANNOT get finished without help... and right now it is looking like it will never get finished...

I also need help taking our best scene out of the film and using it as promotion... sending the whole film rarely gets us funding... but that scene

you know what it is...
where Trixie tells Tala that it is NOT a no kill shelter and "there is REALLY no such thing as a no kill shelter as all they have to do is REFUSE to take in the animal... and then it goes to a kill shelter"

you can see that line in the trailer on YOU TUBE above link

Its the turning point in the movie...

anyway...

need help

PS my trailers dont work on our site because I moved the site from one host to another and frankly had NO idea of what I was doing so I lost all the pics that were on my blog and lost the trailers on the website... oops... so if you can donate some time helping fix that... or even a week or weekend of editing help... we have to redigitize all that we lost when our harddrives crashed... oh... but wait... cant do that without a deck... so if you have a deck and can come help edit... (I know I know some have said buy a camera and use it as a deck... tried that...the camera did not work with all the tapes... for some reason... and died before we even made a first pass... so i am not into the cheap and easy ways because in the end they- ALWAYS prove to COST MORE).. this is not Bitter -party of one... this is... been there tried that... really... I need some ELBOW GREASE on these wheels... if you cannot roll up your sleeves and help... make ONE phone call... or write ONE letter... PLEASE do NOT contact me about your ideas... I need actual real, tangible, physical, hands-on HELP... the time for ideas is LONG past...

Thank you so very much for reading and understanding my struggle...

Judy

(this is where it gets a bit desperate..)
PS, if anyone know so of a job... I could use one of those too...

(this is where it gets real.... just DO something...take ONE action TODAY on behalf of animals that does something more than helps ONE animal... take ONE action today that helps the animals in the FUTURE...)

OH PS again... if you do not want to write a letter on my behalf then WRITE To OPRAH and tell her to stop being a chicken-sh*t about discussing the hot topic of animal rescue... not all rescuers are zealots... and SHE looks like an uneducated idiot (YUP I just called OPRAH an uneducated IDIOT) when she IGNORES the issue... she tip toes around it... she thanked the Katrina Animal Rescuers and yes animals as an issue would take a WHOLE WEEK... one day for wild life and about to be extinct animals, one for shelter animals, one for breeders and puppy mills, one for FOOD animals and ONE for zoo and all the misc animal issues...

she should do a series like she did on her trip across the country... one each week for a month or more...

Come ON... get with the program OPRAH...
