Defination of Adoption vs Rescuer
One of many more things. Your defination of adopt and rescue is wrong.
Jon Katz, to rescue is to do what animal rescuers do. We pull animals from the shelters or pick them up off the streets, we spay or neuter them, give them vaccinations, and give them shelter, rescuers do this with the intention of adopting the animal to a forever home, as opposed to the foster home.
To adopt is to do what forever homes do, someone in search of a companion pet is looking to adopt. So it is the lay person, as well as yourself who has misunderstood the terminology. The public unless they pick up a stray or adopt out from the shelter with the intention of finding a perminant home for the animal and just foster it until they do will and could only adopt.
